This is one of very few Nollywood movies that have an interesting story line. The movie attempts to show life in the Nigerian community in Austin, Texas. When Emeka arrives in Texas, his problems start immediately with his friends wife and get progessively worse as time goes by.
The film deals with materialism, green card issues, marriage outside of their culture, loss of values and customs, and even the need for something as simple as the desire for the taste of food from home.
As Emeka struggles to hold on to tradition, he befriends a Black American family and becomes involved with two American women, with diasterous consequences.
Ramsey Noah is a treat to watch and was the perfect actor for the role of Emeka. He has evolved as an actor and each performace is better than the last. He seems skilled in using his body, voice, and face to portray a character. He is a little less skilled at doing accents. I don't know where he is originally from, but it would be nice if his accent didn't betray his performance. I find myself always trying figure out where he is from.
I would love to see a remake of this film with a bigger budget, new writers, new director and a new casting director. The location, story line and Ramsey Noah, I would keep.
I recommend this movie because it gives us a look at the serious issues that some Nigerians are faced with when they come to America.
